Operating Procedures Related to Infection Control

  • No appointments will be scheduled for any person who has symptoms of COVID-19, who is living with someone that has symptoms, who has been in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, or who has travelled outside of Ontario within 14 days

  • Optometrists and staff are monitored for symptoms of COVID-19, including daily temperature checks using digital thermometers

  • Optometrists and staff do not present to work when ill with symptoms of infection

  • Hands are cleaned before and after every patient interaction.

  • Examination rooms are cleaned and disinfected between patients

  • Hand sanitizing stations are available at clinic entrances and must be used by everyone entering the clinic

  • Optometrists and staff must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) covering their mouth, nose, and eyes when interacting with patients

  • Anyone entering the office, including patients, must wear a mask

  • Physical distancing will be maintained in the office (> 2 m) whenever possible

  • Only one doctor will be in the office on each day with a maximum of two patients each hour to allow for thorough cleaning and physical distancing

  • Frequent cleaning and disinfecting of commonly touched surfaces and common areas

  • Slit lamp breath shields have been installed

  • Every device or appliance, including eyeglass frames, is disinfected before use with the next patient

  • No new contact lens fittings are to be performed at this time

  • Automated visual field assessment must only occur when necessary, and with patients wearing a properly secured mask covering their mouth and nose

  • Entry to the clinic for any reason is by appointment only

  • Cashless transactions only

All patients and staff must answer NO to ALL of the following questions to be allowed to enter our office:

  1. Are you presenting with fever, new onset of cough, worsening chronic cough, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing?

  2. Did you have close contact with anyone with acute respiratory illness or traveled outside of Canada in the past 14 days?

  3. Do you have a confirmed case of COVID-19 or had close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19?

  4. Do you have two (2) or more of the following symptoms: sore throat, runny nose/sneezing, nasal congestion, red eyes, hoarse voice, fatigue/malaise, diarrhea, abdominal pain, or nausea/vomiting?

If YES is answered to ANY of the above questions, with the health and safety of others in mind, you will NOT be allowed to enter our office.
